Appoint Nominating Committee


RECOMMENDED ACTION:
RECOMMEND that the Transportation Agency for Monterey County APPOINT a Nominating Committee to meet and return to Board of Directors on January 23, 2019 with recommendations for Board Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, and Executive Committee to serve one-year terms beginning upon their election through the next election of officers at the beginning of the January 22, 2020 Board meeting.
SUMMARY:
Agency Bylaws require the election of officers at the beginning of the January meeting. The Executive Committee includes the Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, the immediate past Chair, a City and a County voting Board member.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
DISCUSSION:

Current Executive Committee members are John Phillips (Chair), Robert Huitt (1st Vice Chair), Luis Alejo (2nd Vice Chair), Alejandro Chavez (Past Chair), Simon Salinas (County Representative), and Ed Smith (City Representative). Normally, the Past Chair (Councilmember Chavez) would rotate off the committee and be replaced with the current Chair; and any retiring members will need to be replaced (Supervisor Salinas).

 

At the January 23, 2019 Board meeting, in addition to the recommendations of the Nominating Committee, there will be opportunity for nominations from the floor.
