The City of Monterey applied and received grant funding from the Highway Safety Improvement Program for the Del Monte and Casa Verde Recreation Trail Crossing Intersection Improvement Project.
Housed within the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act), the Highway Safety Improvement Program is aimed at achieving a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads, including non-State-owned public roads and roads on tribal lands. Projects awarded through this program must be identified on the basis of crash experience, crash potential, crash rate or other data-supported means.
During the Committee meeting, City staff will share initial intersection design concepts and are seeking the Committee's early input.
