TRANSPORTATION AGENCY FOR MONTEREY COUNTY Memorandum | |
| | | | | | | | To: | Technical Advisory Committee | From: | Todd Muck, Executive Director | Meeting Date: | May 6, 2021 | Subject: | Federal Funding Roundtable Discussion |
| |
| | | | | | | | RECOMMENDED ACTION: | DISCUSS federal funding applications from TAC jurisdictions. |
| |
| | | | | | | | SUMMARY: | After ten years, Congress is bringing back congressionally-directed funding, previously known as earmarks, now known as "Community Project Funding" or "Member Designated Project Requests". This item is a roundtable discussion of each jurisdictions' priorities for federal funding. |
| |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL IMPACT: | Community Project Funding could be a good opportunity to close funding gaps on already federalized transportation projects. This funding requires the project to be in the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) and to be reviewed under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). |
| |
| | | | | | | | DISCUSSION: | TAMC has requested consideration for Community Project Funding from Congressmember Panetta for the following projects:
- US 101 South of Salinas Safety Improvements - $2 million for environmental review
- State Route 68 Traffic and Safety Flow: Salinas to Monterey - $20 million for construction
Please come to the meeting prepared to discuss the projects your jurisdiction may be pursuing for Community Project Funding. |
