Bicycle Secure Program


RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE Rogers Hawley's application to the Bicycle Secure Program with the award of three bike racks.
SUMMARY:
Approval by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities Advisory Committee is required for applicants to the Bicycle Secure Program to be awarded.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Depending on the style of bike rack, the estimated cost ranges from $600 to $800, or at most .02% of the annual budget for the Bicycle Secure Program.
DISCUSSION:
This application was submitted by Rogers Hawley, the owner of two mixed use developments in Carmel-by-the-Sea, one called Villa Carmel located at 4th Street and San Carlos Street, and a mixed use property at 1725 Fremont Blvd with 2 commercial tenants and 5 apartments. Mr. Hawley states that he is trying to encourage bicycle usage at all locations and wants to provide bicycle racks for both properties.
